Aare-Ware beach is just 2 km away from Kokanwadi. It is one of the virgin beaches of Konkan. The twin beaches of Aare and Ware are just about a few kilometers from Ganpatipule temple near Bhandarpule. The Aare - Ware point offers an awesome view of the vast expanse of the sea. With turquoise blue water all around you, the Aare - Ware point is nice place to sit and watch the Sun go down. A belt of Suru trees adds in the beauty of the beach. Are-Ware is a beach, the tourists can not miss.
It is famous for its Ganpati Temple and beautiful white sand beach, which is just 12 km from Kokanwadi.
The palace is a beautifully constructed three storied structure with sloping roofs. Semi-circular wooden windows with beautiful arches are the main attraction of this structure. Here the King Thibaw of Burma was under house arrest by the British. Also there are some other places such as Tilak Smarak, Light house, and Pawas.
Besides its natural beauty and serenity, Pawas achieved prominence when Swami Swaroopanand (a spiritual leader who influenced an entire generation of Maharashtrians) had made it his abode. The place where he used to reside is now converted into an ashram. A visit there is still like a journey through time.
The meeting point of the river Shashtri and Arabian Sea is called as the creek of Jaigad. For the protection of this creek two forts were constructed, one is Vijaygad in north direction and the other is Jaigad in south direction.
It is a fort, which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea from three sides. The fort is shaped like a horseshoe. It has strong fortifications from south-east to west side. Approximately at the centre of the fortifications, there is a main entrance gate.
There is a lighthouse on one of the bastion. This bastion is called as "Siddha Bastion". Different types of vegetation can be seen in the area of the fort.
It is the most famous beach close to Ratnagiri.
Mandavi beach has black sand and therefore, the water here looks filthy.
